From the club's website

"Martial Arts have rules, referees, mats, and fair play. The streets (we live on) have shocking violence, extreme force, emotional trauma, and permanent physical damage. Or more simply put, Most "Martial Arts" are about trophies and belts whereas Self-Defence is about Evasion and Survival. The reality of confrontation is far too grim and the results far too serious for any type of sport application." Interested in starting Jiu-Jitsu (or Martial Arts in general) but not sure where to start? Give us a call or email and we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have. We would be very interested in you coming down to check out our facility and learn more about what we offer. After that you may book a consultation and training session to explore your goals and aspirations. You should then try out a few classes to make sure we can move forward together in Jiu-Jitsu.

What it teaches and who for are our best reading of the facts. The club has not confirmed them yet.
