How it works
What you see here, where it comes from, and what we do and do not do with your visit.
Where listings come from
From public business information: a club's name, address, phone and website, the kind you would find by searching a map. We check it, keep the date of the last check on every club's page, and correct it when a club or a visitor tells us it is wrong.
We never copy a club's own descriptions, photos or timetables. Those belong to the club, and they change. For anything beyond the basics, the club's page links to its own website.
What a listing is
One listing is one place you can go to train: one building, one point on the map. A club with three gyms has three listings. Each city covers its own area, so a gym in a town nearby may be on that city's pages or not, depending on where the boundary falls.
Governing bodies and programmes with no building of their own are not listed. We will have missed some clubs: if you know one, tell us.
Activities and who a club is for
On a club's page, the activities and whether it teaches kids or adults are worked out from how we found the club and from its name. Until the club confirms them, the page says they are not confirmed. Our team corrects any of them when told.
How results are ordered
When you give a place to measure from (a town, or "near me"), results are ordered by distance. Without one, by area and then by name. There is no hidden score, nobody pays to appear higher, and if this rule ever changes, this paragraph changes with it.
What we count
How often each club's page is viewed, and how often its website, phone number and directions are tapped, so a club can see how often families find it. We count without cookies and without identifying anyone: a visit is counted once a day, crawlers and bots are left out, and nothing is stored in your browser. The privacy page says exactly how.
Questions
Do clubs pay to be listed?
No. Clubs are listed whether or not they pay us or use any of our products, and nobody pays to rank higher.
Can I book through ClubTrove?
Not yet. You contact the club directly, on its own website or by phone.
My club is listed. Can I change or remove it?
Yes. Every club page has "Report a problem" and "Remove this listing". A removal is kept, so the listing does not come back. More for clubs.
