From the club's website

Barber Martial Arts is a family-oriented Karate club where we blend fun and discipline to create a welcoming and supportive environment. Whether you are a child or an adult, our classes are designed to help you grow both physically and mentally. We focus on building strength, confidence, and respect, all while having a great time in a positive atmosphere. Our Chito Ryu Karate style provides a perfect balance between traditional martial arts techniques and a modern, engaging approach. We believe that martial arts should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, and our club is the ideal place for families to train together and grow stronger as a unit. Chito Ryu, often poetically interpreted as “the way of the thousand-year-old Chinese fist” (more accurately translated as “Thousand Tang Style”), is a traditional style of Karate founded by Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose in 1946. The style incorporates a combination of striking, blocking, and joint-locking techniques, with an emphasis on balance, focus, and efficient body mechanics.

What it teaches and who for are our best reading of the facts. The club has not confirmed them yet.

Questions to ask before a first class

  • Which style does it teach, and is it about sport, tradition or self-defence?
  • Is there a trial class, and what does a beginner wear to it?
  • What does a uniform cost, and are there fees for belt gradings?
  • Is there a contract, how long is it, and how do you cancel?
  • When does sparring start, and what protective gear is needed?
