West Hillhurst Community Association

West Hillhurst Community Association provides community programs, events, and facility rentals for all ages in Calgary, including fitness, sports, and local activities. At the West Hillhurst Community Association, we bring neighbours together. Through recreation, wellness programs, events, and partnerships, we create meaningful opportunities for residents of all ages to connect, feel supported, and enjoy an active, vibrant community. The West Hillhurst Community Association began with a simple idea: if neighbours work together, we can build something meaningful. Since the beginning, our story has always been shaped by people willing to roll up their sleeves. In the 1940s, a group of neighbours riding home on the Grand Trunk streetcar began talking about the need for greater connection and opportunities for children in West Hillhurst. They formed what they humorously called “The Grand Trunk Hot Shot League.” Their mission was simple: Their motto said it all: “We can make our community ‘Big’ if we would all help just a little.”
